Houston continues to prove she is capable of singing many genres of music. Her songs have been R&B, dance, pop, ballads, hip-hop, gospel, and torch songs with elements of rock, jazz, and reggae. She distinguishes herself from many of her musical peers by being a touring artist and not simply a studio artist. She has conducted numerous worldwide tours throughout her career, singing live in concerts as well as televised events. She is currently recording a new album although not much has been said, and most “news” about the album are rumors as Arista is keeping it under wraps. Houston recently received a trophy at the Womens World Awards in Europe and performed live at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.

Recent news reports are that Houston is again fighting drug addiction. The National Enquirer published pictures of a bathroom, puportedly Houston’s, littered with drug paraphernalia. These pictures were taken and provided to the enquirer by Tina Brown, Bobby Brown’s sister. Tina Brown has further alleged that Whitney has had lesbian affairs. Tina also said there was holes drilled in the walls so Houston could see if anyone was entering her apartment, but the pictures do not show this. Further news coverage includes Salon [1], The Arizona Republic [2], and Fox News [3]. No denials have been issued from Houston’s camp.

In April 2006, it was rumored that Houston had returned to drug rehabilitation for the third time, however, these reports have yet to be confirmed.
