How Do I Go About Collecting a Loan From Somebody Who Refuses to Pay?
Question by J200: How do I go about collecting a loan from somebody who refuses to pay?
I loaned $ 1500 to somebdoy for a lawyer with the intent of them paying me back with $ 500 interest. So that is a total of $ 2000. I tried to calling, then threatening, but they said they can just say “the money was for drugs” and I will be screwed. I could get witnesses to agree. What should I do? Should I go to the court system? He is a known and convicted drug dealer. He claims to have stopped. It that too much interest to collect? Please answer back with many details, it’s a big problem. What will happen if I go to court?

take to small claims court…don’t know if you can get the interest because you’re not a bank! but, he would have to prove it was from drugs…and, you say you have witnesses.
